I recently submitted a pair of paintings to the Marblehead Arts Association for the Annual Member Holiday Exhibit, where they are on display from November 23 through December 24, 2013. Having spent the last several months focusing on a rigorous formal portrait, I wanted to do something more carefree. I executed a pair of colorful still life paintings of fruit, using quick, broad applications of paint. The paintings are barely figurative, with the objects flattened and not drawn at all.
